Lil Wayne, Jay-Z Shocked Over Eminem's Absence From 'Hottest MCs' List

Lil WayneEven though rapper Lil Wayne nearly took the top slot on MTV's latest ranking of the 'Hottest MCs In The Game,' he joins a growing chorus of stunned colleagues who think Eminem's exclusion from the list is a travesty.

In a recent interview with the BBC, Weezy approved of his No. 2 ranking. "Who's number one?" he asked. "Jay-Z? [Me being number two] That's cool. That's OK, I thought Drake was [going to] be number one."

But when Wayne found out that Em didn't make this year's rankings, he seemed utterly confused. "Eminem [is not on the list]? Who else is on the list?" He asked. "Gucci Mane? Gucci Mane was on the list and Eminem wasn't on there? Shout out [to] my n---a Gucci!"

Wayne isn't the only rapper to take issue with Em's absence, both Jay-Z and Jermaine Dupri recently gave their thoughts. "I think you do the credibility of this list a disservice if you don't thoroughly explain his [Eminem's] omission," Jay said in a statement. "As of this second he has the highest selling rap album of the year and a scene stealing verse on the best 'posse' cut of the year."

JD, meanwhile, took to his blog to state his thoughts on the subject. "My question is how do you feel about Eminem not making it?" he wrote in all caps. "I personally think the list just lost its credibility by not including him. Not only did he make [an] album this year but that album outsold 75 percent of everybody on the list. To me this is why so many people keep saying hip-hop is dead. In these bad times of the record industry he should've made it for [the]fact that he still had the power to move 600k record[s] his first week."

Other notables near the top of the list include newcomer Drake, who notched an impressive No. 3 spot, Kanye West at No. 4 and Rick Ross at No. 5.

Perhaps another round of new material will give Eminem a shot at rejoining the list next year. Em is reportedly set to release the second album-length installment of 'Relapse' before the end of this year, although an official release date has not been set.
