Busta Rhymes had some bad karma catch up with him this week. The Brooklyn rapper appeared in court yesterday to defend charges resulting from a 2003 assault and left the hearing with considerably lighter pockets. Rhymes was charged with assaulting 32-year-old Alex Duncan during a September 13, 2003 concert at SUNY Albany, in upstate New York. Duncan claimed that he was drenched with water, assaulted with bottles and punched in the face by both Rhymes and his bodyguard. During his court appearance, Duncan explained that he had experienced numerous nightmares and suffered severe psychological trauma following the incident.
The former school groundskeeper said that the incident has hindered his ability to have a normal social life because of the constant inquiries from friends and associates. "It's all right," Duncan, said about the $75K he is set to receive. "I wanted something to come out of it. I don't even go to parties anymore, because there's always someone asking, 'What happened to that Busta Rhymes case?' " Duncan's lawyer had originally requested a sum of $500, 000 for his client's grievances.
Busta Rhymes' last solo project was 2009's 'Back on My B.S.,' which was his debut album on Universal Motown Records. His upcoming LP, 'The Chemo ' is slated for a 2010 release.
