Oprah Winfrey has decided to remove singer BeBe Winans from her talk show amid debate that she was showing him in light of his domestic violence incident. "BeBe will not be appearing on the 'Oprah' show until his legal matters are resolved in court," said a rep for the talk show.
Winan was arrested and charged with domestic violence in February for allegedly pushing his ex-wife Debbie to the ground during an argument over custody of their two children. Debbie called Winfrey a hypocrite for having him on the show and was said to be "hurt" by his appearances. The gospel singer not only performed on the show but was also a special correspondent on the 'Oprah's Karaoke Challenge' special in the past months.
Winfrey who has spoken out against domestic violence in the past came under fire for showing preferential treatment towards the singer, yet when it came to singer Chris Brown's assault on ex-girlfriend Rihanna, Winfrey was quick to speak out against his actions. "If a man hits you once, he will hit you again," she said to her audience during a special show on domestic violence against teens. Brown did not take too kindly to being talked about on the show, and expressed his disappointment as he and Winfrey had worked together in the past. "It was a slap in my face," he said. "I did a lot of stuff for her, like going to Africa and performing for her school. She could've been more helpful."
Known for his gospel career alongside sister and singing partner CeCe, Winans is due back in court in January.
