Beleagured journeyman rapper
Canibus leaked an
Eminem diss record today, about 1,567,478 years too late. The track is called 'Airstrike (Pop Killer)' and features Canibus' labelmate, DZK, an unknown rapper from Virginia. The beef between Canibus and Eminem started in the last Millenium, after Bus rudely asked Shady if he had penned the
LL Cool J diss track, 'The Rapper Strikes Back.' A provoked Slim Shady would fire back at Canibus on '
The Slim Shady LP,' leading the Jamaican-born rapper to later retaliate with his own version of Em's super-fan tribute '
Stan.'
Though Canibus may have
lost a step a whole staircase since the last Eminem jab, he still manages to cross the line on 'Airstrike (Pop Killer),' name checking Em's dead partner,
Proof. "If Proof was alive, he'd be dying inside," Canibus spits. "You aint no hip-hop messiah, you a b---- cause you dissed
Mariah/S--- like that, supposed to be private/I'm a fry you on behalf of Mariah and Michael/ Put you back on the drugs, make you suicidal."
Bus' labelmate DZK further underwhelms, with such zingers as, "I got a question, I'm white, can I join D12?/ I'll sell you four million records then I'll tell you go to hell."
Apparently the track, which also features random Eminem interview clips and the odd
D12 verse or three, wasn't supposed to debut until February. No word as to whether Em will respond, though we
kinda doubt it, as he's hard at work, you know, recording platinum albums, like '
Relapse 2,' and
re-releasing 'Relapse' with those seven bonus cuts and all that. Check out
the diss here. Or just take our word for, and go back to living your life.

*Sigh* People need to do their homework before posting articles. Something obviously happened in-between then & now. Rumor has it the Canibus was reaching out to squash old beefs for his new LP Melatonin Magik due out in February, but some kind of diss occurred. Canibus even says in the song "You know why this is happening" which lets me further believe that this is true.
2nd, the "You didn't Care" song (continuing the "Stan" story) that Canibus did wasn't the only one that was directed towards Em. There were actually several jabs years ago on the Mic Club: The Curriculum album, including "Curriculum 101". So it's not something that took place a "millenium" ago...it was an on-going thing that got squashed for a while.
3rd, Canibus may not be putting out platinum-selling albums, but he's put out some great LP's like "For Whom The Beat Tolls"& "Rip the Jacker", featuring what some consider to be the greatest verse of all time on "Poet Laureate II". In the last couple of years, he's also put out gems like "Worthlessness Purpose", "Merchant of Metaphors", "Lunar Deluge", "Layered Prayers", & "Harbinger of Light"...which are waayyy better than anything Em has put out lately (I love Eminem, but I love Eminem the best in his SoundBombing II form...and the cypher with Mos Def & Black Thought is the closest I've seen him to that in a while).
So, before you diss Canibus and say that he's fell off and all of that stuff, you should do some more research 1st. There's plenty of good music underground that you're not hearing. Canibus actually has the "Undergods" coming out with Keith Murray (already released an EP featuring Crooked I & Tech N9ne), an LP with Kool G Rap, Two solo LPs (Melatonin Magik & C of Tranquility), and a lot more coming out. His music is alive and well.

I couldnt have said that any better. I myself am a massive Canibus fan and theres nothing worse than people who percieve underground artists such as him as people who simply failed at going mainstream. Thanks for helping to educate lol

That's right pharoahe! Canibus is indeed doing his thing! Despite away in the army, he has accomplished many feats that rappers here in the states can hardly do wit ha dozen record deals and collabos helping them out! I have been following canibus from the beginning and will do so until the end, or should i say, "Until The Beat Stops"!

Good reply. I am a fan of both artist in this case. The author of the article is obviously very biased. He gives very little info on the whole beef, and the only info he even gives is given in a way to make Can-i-bus look bad. Even the most miniscule of media outlets deliver news with a spin these days.

ok phantom canibus isnt a hip hop king, if he was we would be hearing about him and not eminem no one even knew he had a new cd coming till you start searching around looking for anything you could get that says canibus and eminem is just too good for canibus and ill admit canibus use to be ok but notice i said USE TO BEnow he is just garbage

You obviously know nothing about the music industry! Eminem is with G-unit! Sold out with a record deal to get his ass out the ghetto and rise from the underground because hell is hot! Canibus refuses to sell out and is king of underground and is well know it's just people forgot about him with all this rap garbage polluting the airwaves! Clean out your ears and get a dictionary! Canibus does not rap garbage pre-school lyrics like most these rappers out! Namely eminem! Even though i do like EM, kids can't listen to him since his vocabulary consist of cursing and talking about drugs and bit**es! If canibus sold out to some record deal like cash money, he be everywhere like Lil Wayne!
