After years of criticism, multi-platinum rap bad boy Eminem has finally given in to censorship. The Detroit MC, who has been known for his controversial content in the past, agreed to refrain from performing homophobic lyrics at an upcoming festival in England.
The promoters and organizers of Wireless Festival were concerned that Em, who is booked for their 2010 event would offend gay audience members with his lyrics, after gay rights group OutRage! stated that they would refrain from picketing the show, if Eminem would refrain from rapping anti-gay lyrics.
According to a spokesman, Eminem agreed to omit his homophobic content. The gay rights group, OutRage! has recently received media attention for boycotting reggae artists Buju Banton and Beanie Man, both of whom have had UK tours picketed by the organization, due to their homophobic lyrics.
The Wireless Festival takes place in July of 2010, at Hyde Park in London.
