Trina Looking to Adopt a Child From Haiti

TrinaMiami-based rapper Trina has expressed interest in adopting a baby from Haiti, following the country's catastrophic 7.0 earthquake that left many children orphaned. "With the current state that Haiti is in right now, I personally feel like donating monetary and physical possessions is an enormous and vast donation; however, I would like to contribute on a higher level for more personal reasons like being ready to raise/nurture a child and by being involved on a day-to-day basis," the 32-year-old said in a statement.

Trina said she has family ties to Haiti and believed adopting a child from the devastated country had a greater significance "because a great deal of adopted children come into the United States from larger countries like China, Russia and African countries."

"I am in the financial position to adopt," Trina continued, "therefore, I am taking it into deep consideration at this time. I have always admired other individuals for adopting children not so much for their celebrity status, but more so because of the nurturing and invaluable change and joy it will bring to a child's life."

Trina is just one of the many celebs that has offered to help to the country in the wake of the Jan. 12 earthquake. Although others have not publicly offered to take in displaced children orphaned by the disaster, millions of dollars have been raised to aid the country. No word yet on when Trina plans on starting the adoption process.

OMG... That has got to be the most ignorant comment I have ever read. You are a moron. Please don't travel anymore. It's best you stay at home and leave the rest of the world alone. Just...wow.

How does a person's decision to make a commitment to help and nurture a child somehow become the wrong thing to do?

I think it is great that Trina is deciding to adopt from Haiti, this way she knows she is doing a good thing. When someone donates money to Haiti, how do we really know all the money they donate is actually being used to help? Yes there are many American children that need to be adopted but why should Trina be faulted for deciding to adopt from a country that is definitely in need. I wish there was more I could do to help.

Oh what the F*** EVER! This dumb broad is completely irrelevant in the music world, and so she just wants so press time. Just another idiot milking the Haiti tragedy to get on TV/in the News......what a bunch of bullsh*t. Funny though, she'll prob. online get interviewed on BET. Every other network and real news organizations will probably not give a damn. Or if they do, it'll be for a day........unless this dumb heffa finds a way to milk it out longer. I hate all these ppl milking this earthquake like that........LAME!
