Michael Jackson's Children Accept His Lifetime Achievement Award at Grammys

Michael Jackson
's two eldest children, 12-year-old Prince Michael and 11-year-old Paris, took the stage at tonight's Grammy Awards ptrdrntstion to accept their father's Lifetime Achievement Award. "We are proud to be here to accept this award on behalf of our father," Prince Michael said. He thanked fans for their support and sent a special thank you to his grandparents for their love and care during the past few tumultuous months. He went on to address his father's passion for the environment, also reminding the audience of the one thing was most important to the late King of Pop.

"Our father was always concerned about the planet and humanity. Through all his hard work and dedication, he has helped many charities and donated to all of them,' said Prince. "Throughout his songs, his message was simple -- love. We will continue to spread his message and help the world." Paris expressed sadness that her father was not able to be present with them tonight. "Daddy was suppose to be here," she said. "Daddy was going to perform last year. Thank you. We love you, Daddy."

Prince and Paris accepted the award following a special 'Earth Song' 3-D tribute performance from Usher, Jennifer Hudson, Smokey Robinson, Celine Dion and Carrie Underwood. The five singers took the stage after a heartfelt introduction from Lionel Richie, and the audience was outfitted with 3-D glasses so it could view footage from Jackson's 3-D mini-movie. The footage, which focuses on the safety and future of the environment, was originally intended for release as part of the 'This Is It' tour footage.

This is a very sad situation but I do believe that the children will be fine. However, I do feel that Michaels brother Jermain should cease trying to capitalize on Michaels passing and go back to where he came. He has no talent, he thinks he is going to take his brothers place and he treats his brothers very unprofessionally. I also certainly his brothers realize that he is a nothing and Michaels fans do not want him - he does nothing but blemish his brothers image. Michale I am sure is turning over in his grave.

I agree with you that this was a heartless, cruel, & ignorant statement. Michael settled the first case because he was told to & also had been subjected to the most embarrassing naked photo session, that even a modern day, proven criminal wouldn't be subjected to! This is factual, recorded & spoken about by Michael on a televised plea for the public to not judge him & to wait for the truth to come out. This unethical photo shot was also referred to in the TV movie about Michael, Man in the Mirror. I also agree that if Michael had been guilty, no payment would've been accepted by the law or the parents! Any parent would seek out criminal charges & not money to line their poclets.

Critics seem to forget that Michael endured weeks of embarrassing, untruthful
testimony, without being able to defend himself, of a trial made a circus by the media,
not Michael, & that with 123 witnesses & a jury, he was *acquitted*, which in my understanding, is the official ruling of *not* being guilty of the charges accused of. For too long, Michael was the victim of harsh judgments & tabloid fodder about everything he did, from his hair, face, clothes & even being a father. I agree that any one who judges another should look within themselves & their families for anything that could be misunderstood by others.
I'm glad that Michael kept his children protected form the outside world, & the press which seemed to get pleasure from his pain. There father loved them & raised them with values, compassion, & sensitivity. Obviously, many people don't have those qualities.
I was impressed & inspired by Michael's children, looking & sounding incredibly poised, mature & showing grace in light of their incredible tragedy. I'm 53 yrs old, lost my dad 7 months ago & can't imagine speaking in front of an audience. Michael would be so proud of his kids. I sincerely hope that Michael's fans keep his image, message, songs & dancing alive, as well as support his children in any move they make to follow in their fathers' footsteps. As Prince said, his dad was all about "love".

I sincerely hope that these children do not turn out to be as truly weird (not to mention criminal) as their father was . . Being raised now by the other Jacksons is quite sad . . . By the way, those snapshots of Michael years ago show an extremely handsome young black man . . only a distorted mind would alter their appearance as he did. Nuff sed. I feel for those kids.

Wow, what a rude and ignorant statement you just made. First of all, what was criminal about Michael Jackson? False accusations that were made that he was found innocent of? And if you are at all referring to the first case in which he gave money to the people, I have a couple things to say about that. One, if he did indeed touch this child, no amount of money would have kept him out of jail. The courts, law, police officers and the child's parents had a legal obligation to make sure he was put behind bars and unable to hurt anyone else. That was not done because he had done nothing wrong, these people wanted money and that's exactly what they got. His record company told him to do whatever it took to make the people disappear, they had to pay them off because Michael had a hit record out and it would hurt the sales, Michael wanted to fight it, but everyone fought him for trying to fight. In the second case, he was found NOT GUILTY, because he had done nothing wrong. Why is it sad that these beautiful children are being raised by their family members? I wonder if we look in your closet if you or your family members have any skeletons in there. As far as how he changed his looks, he did what he wanted to do, no I don't necessarily agree with what he did, but if you are going to judge him, you have to judge SO many others. Michael was a wonderful man who did so much for the world and for children. There will never be another...people mistreated and abused him while he was here out of pure jealousy for the talent and love this man showed. He was the biggest giver, but as the Lord says...To Whom Much Is Given, Much is Required. My prayers and heartfelt thoughts are with his children and his family members as they continue to grieve. I am just a fan, a young fan and I continue to grieve over Michael. May you finally have your peace. And for those naysayers, realize he has children...realize that they have feelings too and they love their father.

My heart truly goes out to the Children, there whole lives have taken a serious drastic change. Their Father is gone. The one thing that Michael worked so on hard on was to sheild his children from the prying eyes and gossip of the media and onlookers and the first thing that happens is that it is thrown out the window. I do not believe that this is something that Michael himself would have wanted now people are looking at them and following them around with cameras wondering what they are doing every second this is really sad.Even if this is something that they wanted to by going out and expresseing thier love for thier father to the world (which I understand it) is now up to to the family to protect those children. I do not understand how doing this could be theraputic for them I couldn't even watch it because it breaks my heART OVER AND OVER AGAIN
