Almost eight months following the unexpected death of pop icon Michael Jackson, his personal physician -- Dr. Conrad Murray -- has been charged with involuntary manslaughter. Los Angeles prosecutors charged Murray on Monday (Feb. 8) saying that he "did unlawfully, and without malice, kill Michael Joseph Jackson."Murray in previous months admitted administering the 50-year-old King of Pop with the powerful sedative propofol to help Jackson sleep, while he prepared for his string of 50 comeback concerts in London. Toxicology reports concluded that Jackson's death had been caused my a deadly mixture of propofol, the sedative lorazepam, while other painkillers and a stimulant were also found in his body. Murray, who was only hired a little over a month before Jackson's June 25 death, faces up to four years in prison if convicted.
Murray's lawyer, Ed Chernoff said: "We'll make bail, we'll plead not guilty and we'll fight like hell." The disgraced doctor is due in court to hear the charges brought against him later today.
