Wyclef Accused of Misappropriating Haiti Funds for Mistress

WyclefAccording to reports, former Fugee Wyclef Jean paid his mistress a six-figure salary using funds from his charitable organization, Yele.

The alleged mistress, Zakiya Khatou-Chevassus, was paid $105,000 as an independent contractor, working on the charity in 2008.

"She worked for Wyclef on all Wyclef matters," a source, told website Gawker. "She did whatever Wyclef needed that day, whether it was related to Yele or not. She would do things like book flights, and she wasn't very good at it. It's a shame that she made that much money."

Though she reportedly acted as 'Clef's personal assistant, Khatou-Chevassus' salary was more than three times what Yele's program director received, and the two were said to be romantically involved. "Everyone knows they were in a relationship," another source said. "A dozen people, including me, saw and knew. It wasn't a secret." The multi-platinum rapper is married, and was recently found possessing naked pictures of his manager on his cellphone.

Wyclef has been accused of misappropriating funds in the past, allegedly paying $410,000 to his own companies, and spending $250,000 on advertising with a Haitian television station that he co-owns. He is also said to have charged his foundation $100,000 to perform at his own charity event.

Wyclef has yet to make a statement regarding the accusations.

Jean may have a woman who he has as a so-called mistress. However, most men do. She was more than a jump-off being paid and maintained on a professional and financial manner. His wife most likely quietly knew about this and understands her husband. As far as the misappropriation of funds, Jean has been character assinated and thrown under the bus by the media. Clinton and Bush have been appointed to head the money-movement in Haiti by our great and esteemed President. Jean had to be eliminated from recieving any money through his foundation which generated large sums for relief. Jean is wanted to shutup and be the poster boy for Haiti--nothing more. Whether he cries or not, He's done with this battle!

I'm a Roman Catholic and this is why I prefer to make my charitable donations for disaster relief through my church. When it comes to missionary outreach services, the Catholic Church is usually on the forefront to address disaster victim's needs depending upon how well their outreach efforts have been established in certain parts of the world. As long as they have an established mission or agency in a particular location, they're able to channel valuable aid where it's needed the most. Wyclef Jean should be ashamed of himself. What's done in the dark always comes to light especially when it concerns the welfare of others. His charity should be completely shutdown and a full scale audit conducted. It would be interesting to know just how much of each dollar donated is actually spent on needy recipients.

we here in the USA need to focus on re-building our own country and charity for our own people many of whom are now living in card board boxes, or old broken down cars on the bad side of town? America has always been there first for every tom dick and harry that has troubles, except our own people? and invariably, every single time we get bashed for our efforts, not enough, not fast enough, not a big enough smile on our face, etc...well, maybe we need to just concentrate on re-building our own damn country and feeding, educating and putting back to work our own damn people for a change? we have whole states and huge cities crumbling from neglect and missuse of funds, not to mention the shifting of our manufacturing base away from our own people over to Mexico and China and every other crap hole country you can name? and yet we are still considered the demons by many? to some, there is no price big enough we can pay to make them happy? I say cut off the governments ability to tax us, and print money like monopoly money, (get rid of the Federal Reserve bank) stop giving our government the ability to drain us to death with taxes and set about to fixing our own people and country. Focus on OUR needs, like everyone else around the world does, and then America will once again be a great country???

And this is a surprise? How does everyone think Haiti became the mess it is. The earthquake only brought it to light more recently than it would otherwise have been. There's total anarchy. It has been so for as long as I can recall. It's like back in the early times when the islands were run by pirates.

If youp wonder why the people of Haiti are starving to death it is because their own leaders are robbing and cheating them blind. This guy gets all teary to raise funds while he is feathering his own nest.

O.K. Wycleff is not the President or dictator of Haiti. Also, Haiti fought for their freedom and as a a result they had to pay France back for winning their freedom from france. Like winning our freedom and then the country you win it for says you have to pay us for our losing. It is due to Toussant Le Overture that Haiti still can say that they fought for their freedom, unlike certain folks in America. It is because they won their freedom and the dismissing and ignoring of the Catholic Church that Haiti has been so down trodden and then this Earthquake. Do those of you who post your opinion read, do you do something other on the internet accept spew hate and ignorance? Do you Google or Ask.com or research or anything? My Mother always said "you never know whose a fool till they open their mouth!" Or in this case type some stupid stuff like God dictated the misinformation itself. But its all good, just trying to see what others think at times and enjoy some electronic discourse. Be Well and Blessed and most of all...READ A BOOK, Newspapers are usually shorter reads for those with Attention Deficit Disorder.

I don't give to charities because of things like this. There's always somebody with their hand in the jar. I feel bad for the people that need it, but they can blame their leader.

Kathy,
whose Leader? God? To my memory, their leader was left at the airport trying to find a place to set up a temporary office. The reason why Hillary and others had to act swiftly is that Haiti has gone through so much even before the Earthquake that their government became almost inept, let alone able to handle this kind of event. Whose Leader are you referring to regarding placing blame?

...or another nationality that can spell correctly when bashing! Spellcheck works wonders, so does an extensive vocabulary.
