As we always say, there's no better way to start the day than with a hearty bowl of Damon Dash. Apparently, local NYC morning show Good Day NY is in agreement as they featured the former Roc-A-Fella impresario on a fast-moving segment that aired on March 17. Given some quality access to Dame's DD172 space, Dash answered questions about art, his rough upbringing, money problems and (yes) Jay-Z. Showing off the compound's much-hyped art gallery, Dash riffed: "I love art. Lots of things happen in this building. This is just a reflection of it."
The reporter pointed out that all the paintings and sculpture had an "urban" vibe. "I think, like when you come from some degree of extreme circumstance, you get the flavor first," Dash responded.
After previewing some wearable three-dimensional animal art, Dash was asked about his rumored financial struggles. "I'm a businessman," he explained. "It is what it is. We in a recession. Whoever, to me, isn't going through any financial problem is cheating. The economy crashed."
On Jay-Z, an inevitable morning show topic, Dash recognized his past but once again explained how he wants to push things forward rather than stand around acting nostalgic. "We did Roc-A-Fella, you know?" he said. "We made history. I'm never gonna be mad at Jay. Roc-A-Fella's a big thing. Everything I've done is to get where I'm at now."
