It's been over a year since Chris Brown's assault on ex-girlfriend Rihanna, but the R&B singer is still struggling with a tarnished image.According to the reports, Brown is having a hard time locking down a venue to accommodate his upcoming 21st birthday party, because club promoters are wary of angering princess Ri-Ri. "They don't want to mess up their relationship, or potential relationship," with a Rihanna, a source told the New York Post. Brown has reportedly sought out clubs in New York, Miami and Las Vegas to host his coming-of-age bash, but has been denied at all venues. Insiders say that he is currently investigating the use of restaurants and private residences in New York City.
Brown was ordered to serve five years of probation and complete community service following the assault, but his image has not been able to bounce back entirely. Early in March, a message that was allegedly recorded by Brown appeared on the website, SayNow.com. In the 90-sec clip, Brown begged fans for their assistance in his fight to get more airplay. "There's nothing else that I can do," the message said, "I'm doing everything that I need to do. I'm doing me as a person and I'm a better guy. But it's on ya'll."
Brown released his most recent album, 'Graffiti,' in December. Although it peaked at No. 1 on Billboard's R&B and Hip-Hop album chart, the album's singles received considerably less airplay than his previous songs.
