Coolio was hit with a bench warrant on Monday (April 5) after failing to appear in court for a legally mandated progress report. The West Coast rapper -- real name Artis Leon Ivey Jr. -- was arrested at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) last March, when an airport screener found crack cocaine in his possession. Coolio pleaded guilty to possession of narcotics and is still completing the terms of his probation sentence stemming from the arrest. According to TMZ.com, a $10,000 bench warrant was issued for Coolio's arrest, when he failed to show up in court. He is now considered a fugitive since his lawyer was also unable to get in touch with him.
Only two weeks prior to Coolio's March arrest, he was robbed of clothing and jewelry while stage-diving at a concert in Staffordshire University in England. After the decline of his musical career, the 46-year-old transitioned into the world of reality TV, where he made appearances on several shows such as 'Celebrity Fear Factor,' 'Celebrity Bootcamp,' Britain's 'Celebrity Big Brother' and even his own web show 'Cookin' With Coolio.'
Coolio has released eight solo albums since his 1994 debut, 'It Takes a Thief,' but he has been unable to land a hit song on the music charts in over 10 years.
