Say What! -- Nicki Minaj Says 'The World's Not Ready for a Gay Rapper' + More

Openly bi-sexual rapper Nicki Minaj spoke recently about hip-hop homophobia, claiming that the world is just not ready for an openly gay rapper just yet. "I think the world is getting more gay-friendly, so hip-hop is too. But it's harder to imagine an openly gay male rapper being embraced," Minaj explained. "People view gay men as having no street credibility. But I think we'll see one in my lifetime." Where's Omar? [Details]
One of the best ignorant rappers of all time, N.O.R.E., discussed the difference between being "ignorant" and "ghetto," citing his Newport piece as an example. "You don't have to stop being the person you are because you live a certain way. You are who you are but there's a difference between ghetto and ignorance," the Queens rapper explained. "Now the Newport piece that I bought, that was ignorant....That was the first time I felt like I played myself a lil bit." Whatever, that was ill. [HipHopWired]

IF any Hip Hop artist was to come out it would end his career Blacks are the most Homophobic groups I have ever seen other than the highly Religious, which a lot of Black's are.

WTF! do you! know about black culture "PackerFan". "Blacks are the most homophobic groups i've ever seen". How many "groups" have you seen Mr. Wisco? And most Blacks are highly religious? I didn't know that either. I'm black and from Wisconsin and know what type of dumbass white comment that is to make from a state with LITTLE diversity. That is one of the most ignorant, disrespectful, dumbass comments I"VE ever read. We are all, now, just thaaat much more stupid for having read your farce.

Nicki is obviously not a sociologist. A gay rapper isn't welcomed into hip-hop because he does not have street cred; gay rappers wouldn't be welcomed into hip-hop because we Blacks tend to be homophobic (esp towards men and butch females) and because of a fear of association. That is, Black men wouldn't want their sexual identity questioned which will undoubtedly happen if they were blasting some gay rapper' music. Also we tend to align ourselves with rappers and say that "that's my n*gga" etc ("Nas, that's my man right there" or "I f*cks with Jeezy" etc). It would be very hard for a straight Black man to say that about a gay man except for say "Omar" from the wire lmao; but even then it would be said in a jokingly manner and the words prolly will be chosen cautiously.

your right being a butch ( we prefer stud letting u in on the lingo) and black is very hard, and black men are the ones who disrespect the most. i mean they wanna get violent if they step out of line with you or your girl and you check them. that's why me and all my 'family' in cleveland pack pistols or carry knives. black people need to quit condoning homophobia, niki cool, kim will always be the best, but all this gay bashin and homophobia has to stop. blacks need to think for ourselves, your blood always your blood why does it matter who they sleep wit?
