The crumbling friendship between former Diplomats members Jim Jones and Cam'ron has been a hot topic for the past three years, thanks to a series of back-and-forth jabs in the media. Back in 2007, Jones began airing his discontent with Cam over a disagreement, and from there the drama between the two spiraled into a split between the Dipset crew. Since then, each of former crew members -- including a neutral Juelz Santana -- have had their own projects on deck, but fans have long hoped for a reunion.
Hot 97's Miss Info broke news on Monday, April 19, that Jones and Cam had finally reached the point of communication again, and were attempting to rebuild their friendship. The Harlem natives phoned in together, and took turns speaking to Miss Info. Jim Jones was up first, taking a few minutes to apologize about the way he'd handled the disputes with his former Diplomats brother.
"We're building on getting back on track, but first, I apologize for being a rude brother, for saying things publicly without first trying to handle them privately. I apologize for not leading by example because what I didn't realize at the time, I was venting but it wasn't all about me." Jones said. "There were other people whose dreams were also part of this movement. So by not leading by example, they were left stranded too. The way I handled our business issues was with emotion, and it got totally f---ed up. That's what selfishness does...."
Next, Cam'ron threw in his two cents, making sure he was careful to not promise a reunion, but instead explaining that they would continue to work on their individual projects while repairing their broken bond. "There's nothing really Diplomats-related to show you yet. We all have our own obligations right now, our own projects. I have this 'Boss of All Bosses Pt. 2.5' mixtape with Vado and DJ Drama dropping soon," Cam said. "But yes, me and Jim have been speaking, we're working out the mechanics of this, and looking at our options right now. If it makes sense, it can happen."
