Gloria Velez Calls Nicki Minaj a 'Gimmick'

Young Money rapper Nicki Minaj isn't afraid of addressing her "haters," but now another peer is speaking up. In an interview with rapper/model Gloria Velez, the former Murda Mami described Minaj as a "gimmick" who simply had the "right team behind her."

"Nicki Minaj, you know like, you can't say [she's] hot because she's the only one out, she's just there. It's a gimmick," Velez explained, adding that Lil Wayne's Cash Money is the driving force behind her career. "If anybody else had put her out, or she was by herself, it wouldn't have popped off at all. No matter how much plastic surgery or injections in the butt."

Velez went on to say that she doesn't particularly enjoy Minaj's music, either. "I don't like her music, sorry. I think she's a gimmick, I think it's real whack, her lyrics, garbage. It's cute and catchy, but it's not hot to me. Some of it don't even make sense, like what is that? She's batting her eyes the whole time on stage. That's not a performance mama!"

Velez, who once had a Cash Money deal of her own, ultimately admitted that she'd probably make the same career choices, if given the opportunity, though she criticized Minaj for her posturing.

Her lyrics are quite bizarre. I wouldn't call Nicki a gimmick if she had this sense of "style" before she was famous. I mean, Lady Gaga was quite strange even before she was famous. Sure it's exaggerated now that she is famous, but I think Nicki is biting off the whole shock value thing. It took Missy Elliot like 8 yrs. before people accepted her style. I think Nicki is very pretty, but I personally like my music to be more than just cute. If you get paid millions of dollars to speak over a rhyme and I have to pay for it, you better be saying something worth my time. And Nicki Minaj isn't even the worst offender. I'll leave it at that.

Gloria is speaking the truth. Nicki Had the right team behind her. Her lyrics are cute and catchy but if it wasn't for young money she wouldn't be hot. Listen at her lyrics, and then tell me do you fully understand what she is saying, and hten what does makes since is sorry because the lyrics are weak. Now I support Nicki, and I dont hate her for what she does, but the truth is the truth and Gloria spoke it.

Gloria might be looking a lil older now but back not to far ago she was THAT bitch! Body like "oh my goodness!" Everyone wanted her in their videos. Nicki IS a gimmick. Listen to her lyrics...weak and childish. As hot as Lil Wayne is/was/will be again, he coulda put out Martha Stewart and she woulda became THAT female rapper like Nicki is. Gloria does sound like a hater though.

Who is gloria velez? I think I might have seen her back in the day on a video ho hoochie mama special. If that is her, man did she get old and fat for real. She looks mad old. Also she keeps talking about kay slay and rodney jerkins and producers she know. If u know all them why are you stilla no name? Uhhhh maybe cause u suck on the mike? stick to bein a video hoochie mama and stop hating.
