Janet Jackson Done Recording Albums?

Janet JacksonAfter spending close to 30 years in the music industry music and selling more than 100 million albums worldwide Janet Jackson is reportedly done recording albums. According to her former boyfriend, producer Jermaine Dupri, Janet says recording an album just isn't worth the time anymore and plans to focus on her acting career.

"Last time I heard she really didn't want to do an album. She wanted to just do singles every once in a while," Dupri said, mentioning their recent collaboration on the track 'Nothing' for the 'Why Did I Get Married Too?' soundtrack. "She's looked at the marketplace – albums are not really doing what they usually do when you put all this budget out there. Janet is just trying to figure out her landscape."

As far as concentrating on her acting career Dupri says, "Janet's cool. She has a lot of work going on that's keeping her in the right direction. The movie [Why Did I Get Married Too] came out, which is the biggest Tyler Perry movie he has had thus far. It looks like her star power as an actress is still there. And she's about to do another movie, 'For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When the Rainbow Is Enuf' with Mariah Carey, Kerry Washington and Whoopi Goldberg. They will be shooting that in June. And then she's performing at the Essence Festival."

In other news, Janet Jackson has a book due out in the fall titled 'True You' that addresses her struggles with staying fit.

First of All i dont think JD actually said that Janet said its not worth her time anymore. I have read this same exact article everywhere and nowhere in the other reprints of the article was that quote in there. I think Janet has the right idea with releasing Singles every now and then because she is right. Albums arent worth the big budget for recording studios, video shoots promo pics and all that. Especially with half of the songs on it arent gonna be released as singles. Go into the studio and record a single worthy song every few months and release that. People go on Itunes and Amazon and download single songs anyway rather then the whole album, so it makes sence. GO JANET!!! #1

This is wonderful news. She had one of the weakest voices in history. They had to have the music so loud, it covered up just how bad a singer she really is. If she were not michael's little sister, she would never have been a star.

who the hell cares, that damn family cant live a day without some type of major announcement to get their faces or boobs on TV or Internet.

Best thing they could do is move the hell back to Ft. Wayne and decrease the Intelligence Quotient of Indiana.

Although there will ALWAYS be a dedicated fan-base to her music, she's quitting the recording biz because she is no longer relevant in the music field. Her time has come and gone. Acting still holds some work and opportunity for her however.
