RZA has been inching closer to directing and producing movies for years, and this Friday will mark the world premiere of his first feature entitled 'Bobby Did It.' The film is being shown as part of the Staten Island Film Festival where RZA is also the festival chairman. 'Bobby Did It' will be shown at his home borough's St. George Theater with an afterparty to follow at the not-very-Wu-Tang-named Shooters Sports Lounge. "After keeping this film, 'Bobby Did It' on ice for years I have decided to show it to the public," he wrote on his website. "Or at least to my old neighborhood at St. George Theater. Being this year I will direct my first studio feature I thought it would be cool to show up and coming artists from Staten my earlier amateur work to show we all start from some place: persistence and consistency will lead to a path of accomplishment."
The Abbot is also currently in pre-production for his professional directorial debut for Universal Pictures entitled 'The Man With the Iron Fists'. RZA co-wrote the script with 'Inglourious Basterds' scribe Eli Roth -- a partner of RZA's director mentor Quentin Tarantino. He's doing the soundtrack as well because, well, come on, it's the RZA. Filming for '...Iron Fists' kicks off this September in Hong Kong.
