Joe Jackson has announced plans to file a wrongful death suit against Michael Jackson's personal doctor, Dr. Conrad Murray, for allegedly drinking the night he administered the lethal dose of Propofol to the King of Pop. According to a document obtained by TMZ, Jackson's lawyer, Brian Oxman, has served Murray with legal papers, claiming he had been consuming alcohol at a strip club prior to treating Michael Jackson that fateful night.
"On June 25, 2009, prior to treating Michael Jackson, defendant was at a 'strip club' called 'Sam's Hofbrau' in Los Angeles where he had been 'drinking," Oxman said. "It was reckless for him to 'drink' prior to administering anesthesia to Michael Jackson. He concealed his conduct from Michael Jackson."
The document states that Michael was "confused, easily frightened, unable to remember, obsessive, and disoriented" due to the combination of drugs prescribed by Murray, whose behavior is referred to as "inhuman" and "an extreme violation of the standard of care." In his defense, Murray contends that the allegations against him are "utter nonsense." A rep for his defense further dismissed the claims, saying that "he does not drink," and that he couldn't have been at the strip club because "in the weeks before Michael died, Murray barely had time to take a shower."
Jackson reportedly served Murray with the documents on March 27, 2010, but was forced to wait 90 days before bringing the suit to court, according to California state law.
The 90-day term will be up on June 25, the anniversary of Michael Jackson's death.
