Ciara has finally responded to the controversial statements collaborator The-Dream made about her career, which resulted in the deletion of his Twitter page. The miscommunication began when The-Dream said that Ciara's career had gotten derailed in an interview with Parlour Magazine, several weeks ago.
"You only get so many times to, and I won't say fail, but not achieve," Dream said of Ciara's career. "There's an expectation of where Ciara should be in her career. To others, she's achieved but not to us, because we saw where her career was headed. But now she's back on the horse."
The-Dream went on to imply that he was salvaging her career by writing and producing her new album, 'Basic Instinct,' but her fans took offense to his statements and attacked him via Twitter, which caused him to delete his account.
Though he later defended his remarks, saying that the statement was taken out of context, and calling her his "sister," Ciara has only just responded to the comments, in an interview with BET.
"Let me tell you what the thing is about Dream; if you don't know him you'll misunderstand him," Ciara began, in Dream's defense. "The one thing about him is, he has a big heart, so he never means to come from the wrong place. However, sometimes when he speaks he may say something and it comes off a certain way, so I talked to him and I really got on him. I was like 'yo, what are you talking about? I don't even understand what you're trying to say! ... But it's all love, we're like brothers and sisters."
Watch the interview here. Ciara's 'Basic Instinct' is scheduled for an August 24, 2010 release.
