Earlier this year, after experiencing conflict with their record label, Polo Grounds Music, over the repeated delay in releasing their sophomore album, 'Starting Today,' Nina Sky-comprised of Nicole and Natalie Albino-took matters into their own hands and crafted 'The Other Side'-a blend of dance floor-ready tunes bearing the twins' signature melodies.
"We've been tweeting for months about our new project and now we make it official!" Nina Sky wrote on their official website, NinaSkyHigh.com. The first single off the EP, 'You Ain't Got It (Funk Dat),' produced by WXRK 92.3 NOW's own DJ Yonny, will undoubtedly ring a bell with listeners of old school hip-hop. "We sampled one of our favorite dance joints from the 90's, 'Funk That' by Sagat and flipped it w/ some Na**Sky melodies," Nina Sky revealed.
Besides showcasing his beat-making abilities on 'You Ain't Got It (Funk Dat),' Yonny also produced the effort's title track. Kidz in the Hall's Double-O worked behind the boards on two songs ('Love Song,' 'Only You'), and Salaam Remi and Clinton Sparks are just a few of the other notable producers to lend their talents to Nina Sky's new EP, which will be released independently from Polo Grounds Music.
Eight songs make up the 'The Other Side,' set for a free release on August 3, via NinaSkyHigh.com.
