ESPN Films has announced that they will be airing a documentary about the night legendary West Coast rapper Tupac Shakur was gunned down in Las Vegas in 1996, after attending a Mike Tyson fight.

The film, 'One Night in Vegas,' will be included in the new season of their '30 For 30' series, which also includes documentaries on sports heroes from Steve Nash and Martina Navratilova to the late George Steinbrenner, Some of the series' clips were shot by filmmakers Ron Shelton, John Singleton and Alex Gibney.

'One Night in Vegas' centers around the events of Sept. 7, 1996, when Tupac was shot and killed in Vegas, after attending the Mike Tyson vs. Bruce Seldon boxing match, which Tyson won in the first round.Tyson and Tupac were friends, as Tyson has revealed in interviews, and were planning to attend an after-party together that evening, to celebrate Tyson's victory.

Unfortunately, Pac never made it to the party, as an unknown assailant fired 13 rounds at his vehicle at close range, hitting him twice and puncturing his lung.

"He was incredible." Tyson said in a recent interview, of his late friend. "You knew he was a special person when he's in your presence."

The documentary was directed by Reggie Rock Bythewood, co-writer of the Biggie biopic 'Notorious.'

'One Night in Vegas' is scheduled to air on Sept. 7, 2010, exactly 14 years after Tupac's death.

Um...while I think it's a little weird to have a documentary about a musician on a sports channel. No one can deny what Tupac did for rap...he was not a gang banger but instead a very intelligent young man who like most young guys had a foul mouth. White or black Tupac is still one of the best rappers ever and died way too early!

While tragic, Tupac is not an athlete. ESPN needs to stick to what they do best. When they air the show, you'll hear channels being turned all over America - mine will.

So what does this have to do with sports? Marksmanship? Is it going to be like two rednecks ducking behind some brush talking in hushed tones. "Oh that wasn't too clean of a shot there Bill-Bob, it might take some time before he goes down for good." ... No it will probably be two thugs hiding behind a blackjack table giving commentary. "OOHH... now Tyrone if he held the GATT to the side like a true thug he wouldn't of had such a wide spread grouping of shots." ESPN should spell SELLOUT.
