Vanilla Ice Lands Home Repair Reality Show

Vanilla Ice, born Robert Van Winkle, is set to star in a new reality show this fall titled 'The Vanilla Ice Project.' The 10-episode series will premiere on the DIY Network and focus on the rapper's home improvements skills as he renovates a nine bedroom, 7,000 sq. ft. home located in Palm Beach, FL.

"Over the last 15 years, Rob [Vanilla Ice] has taught himself the basics of home improvement through hands-on experience," said representatives for DIY. "In each episode, Rob demonstrates his vast knowledge in home renovation... He calls the shots in this room-by-room makeover series, exposing an entirely new side of the star -- one that his fans never have seen before."

Vanilla Ice has been involved in the real estate business dating back to his teenage years. His current real estate ventures include buying, developing and selling real estate property.

"Financially I've made some pretty good investments in real estate. I just enjoy it. Yesterday's history is tomorrow's mystery, and I just get in where I fit in," Ice said in a recent interview.

'The Vanilla Ice Project' is set to air on the DIY Network starting October 14.

Hypocrites, first of all "hey boy", don't slam someone for poor spelling and then write "your lying"...it's "you're lying". Posters that do this are plain stupid, but you then you surpass him by being stupid and obnoxious for correcting him and having a spelling error of your own. Obnoxious we can fix, stupid is for life! To the putz who said "who the heck is Vanilla Ice", try listening to something other than today's "complaint rock" or cookie cutter rap, what you don't know about music can fill a mind the size of a dump truck if you haven't heard of him. Love him or hate him, (and if you're in your 40's and say you hated him in the 80's you're a bold-faced liar). He was, for a brief time a better than average rapper who riffed side to side with the likes of MC Hammer and he could dance better than 95% of anyone you've ever seen, black or white...try youtube under "Ice, Ice Baby". He was also very good along side Kim Basinger in a great flick called 8 Mile. Ever have MC Hammer sing about you or act on the same set as Kim Basinger? Didn't think so. Sure, we all know he was part poser and jacked the baseline of "Under Pressure" by Queen and David Bowie for Ice Baby, but he had undeniable talent and something much more marketable in Hollywood..charisma and spent the next decade trying to be taken seriously, I applaud Ice for that. Life isn't how you start, it's how you finish and he went from being a suicidal addict flash-in-the-pan has-been to a real estate mogul and a skilled homebuilder, not bad for a guy with one big hit 20+ years ago. Yesterday's history, tomorrow's a mystery, not bad Robert Van Winkle.

At first, I found this irritating--another "irritant" with the brains of a tater tot getting a reality show. But it talks about a skill set used to renovate a home. If that is really what this show is about, then it is stupid to call it a reality show. Call it a DIY show or mention in the same breath as you mention other shows on decorating, not shows like the Jersey Shore chimpanzees or the other so-called reality crapfest.
