Fantasia 'Cried Like a Baby' Witnessing Pop Culture History

When Fantasia stopped by our Sessions studio in Los Angeles to sing tracks from her third studio album, 'Back to Me,' she took the time to rave about another artist's performance: Chris Brown's tribute to Michael Jackson at the 2010 BET Awards. The former 'Idol' revealed that she wasn't one to judge Brown, who was the subject of much media scrutiny after assaulting then-girlfriend Rihanna in 2009, but that she was so touched by his passion and atonement in that moment on stage that she was brought to tears.

I kept rewinding. I kept telling every- body, 'Come here, you've gotta see this!'

"When he had his moment, I felt him all the way," Fantasia said during her Sessions interview. "I cried with him because I was saying, 'Man, as an artist, I know that he's passionate and he's coming from somewhere deep down on the inside."

Fantasia, who dealt with her own demons just this past month after a pill-popping suicide attempt, also turns to her music during difficult times. "I love to perform. It's my favorite place to be," she said. "For me, it's where I release my stress. Whatever I'm going through, I can take it out and just leave it up here." She, too, had her own defining moment as an artist.
