In addition to Cypress Hill, the concert features Erykah Badu, Nas & Damian Marley and Atmosphere, and takes place in Southern California, where legislation has been passed to allow medical marijuana usage at the outdoor event.
"I am thrilled that our plan for the first-ever, patient-only medical marijuana consumption area in Southern California was approved today after years of hard work and positive marijuana policy," said Guerilla Union rep Chang Weisberg.
Cypress Hill frontman B-Real expressed a similar sentiment, saying "I am really happy that the patients that are coming to hear us play will also be able to have a safe place to consume medical marijuana without fear or having to hide in the shadows."
Medical marijuana has been legally prescribed to California residents with since 1996. Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger also recently signed a bill that reduces those charged with possession of up to an ounce of marijuana to an infraction instead of a misdemeanor.
