The rally serves to support two candidates -- Joe Sestak for the U.S. Senate and Dan Onorat for governor. Both are up for election in the November 2 contest and need funding, support and voter enthusiasm to emerge victorious. After the rally, The Roots and DJ Diamond Kuts will meet with Obama and the candidates.
Obama is no stranger to hip-hop. Jay-Z was one of his biggest supporters and rally draws during the 2008 election and the President recently admitted to Rolling Stone that he's been rocking Nas and Lil Wayne on his iPod. Diamond Kuts is a popular Philly DJ that also hosts 'The Deal' on BET, and The Roots are local legends that have parlayed their solid reputation into an acclaimed role as the house band for 'Late Night With Jimmy Fallon.'
The rally takes place on October 10 outside Robert Fulton Elementary School at High Street and Germantown Avenue.
