Though categories have yet to be announced, fellow nominees include Drake, who scored three nominations, while Monica, Nicki Minaj, Janelle Monae, Sade and Erykah Badu each nabbed two nods.
The award ceremony, which will be filmed on November 10 at Atlanta's Cobb Energy Center, will be hosted by Terrence Howard and Taraji P. Henson, who also hosted last year's event. Performers include R. Kelly, Cee Lo, Freddie Jackson, Badu and Monae, while Ron Isley and Anita Baker will each be honored with a special legend award.
Last year's Soul Train Music Awards saw Beyonce taking home the most awards, including statues for Best Female Artist and Album of the Year. Michael Jackson won a posthumous Entertainer of the Year award, while groups of performers paid tribute to Charlie Wilson, Chaka Khan and Motown.
