"His honesty [inspires me] he's go the balls to say what he wants to say and sound the way that he wants to sound," Miguel told The BoomBox. "He did an entire album [808's & Heartbreaks] that was not rap at all and as an artist I think there's something intriguing about that. I think that that's what being an artist is all about, doing, and saying what you feel. I don't know about the things he does publicly, but as an artists I think his honesty inspires me the most and he pushes boundaries. I think its really dope."
Much like West, Miguel's fashion sense is a big part of his artistry. The Los Angeles native has been known to rock anything from studs to skinny jeans to chains, and says that his style of dress is an extension of his personality, which he describes as goofy, sarcastic, intelligent and lighthearted. "I like to play with the lines of what is masculine and what is feminine. I like to play along the lines of those and I actually like doing things that make me a little more androgynous but not too feminine."
Although fans would probably love a Miguel and Kanye collaboration, in the meantime the singer is focusing on his busy schedule which includes tours with Mary J. Blige and Usher, and his new album, 'All I Want Is You.'
"The album is a journey to a simple conclusion that the grass is not always greener on the other side," Miguel says. "As a theme and as a concept that's something that most people can identify and sympathize with. Most people have been there, they can identify with that notion. As what the album sounds like, no song sounds alike. What ties the album together is my style and delivery vocally and my perspective. I feel like it is very individual to who I am as a person and what I really think about certain things."
Miguel's 'All I Want Is You' hits stores November 30. Watch the title track's video below.
