Birdman Says Shyne Deportation Is Stalling Cash Money Deal

Now that Shyne is out of jail, he adamantly proclaimed that he wants his freedom from his current label home Def Jam, so he can skate on over to Cash Money Records, were he feels his music will be better appreciated. If Shyne does end up signing a distribution deal with Cash Money Records, labelhead Brian "Birdman" Williams says that there's one big obstacle in his way: his immigration status. As previously reported, Shyne was deported back to his home country of Belize, shortly after his release from prison.

"I got respect for Shyne and what he do," Birdman told The BoomBox. "I spoke with him once or twice, I think him not being able to come to the states is gonna play a big part [in the record deal]. I think once he can get his feet back on the surface it'll make a big difference. He's talented, I'mma talk to Shyne. I got a lot of respect for him."

Since his release, Shyne has wasted no time blasting other emcees, dropping a diss record against 50 Cent, and calling out former labelhead Sean "Diddy" Combs, for failing to reach out to him after his release. Now that's he's taken on the musical juggernaut that is Def Jam, most recently saying that Def Jam CEO L.A. Reid "don't care about hip-hop" and then retracting his statement, there's no telling what the status of his debut will be.
