Nicki Minaj Reacts to Regis Philbin 'Bootygate' Incident

YouTube

Nicki Minaj received a "shocking" welcome from talk show host Regis Philbin earlier this week, when the Young Money phenom made an appearance on 'LIVE! With Regis and Kelly' on Monday.

Following Minaj's performance of her hit single 'Right Thru Me,' the Queens, NY, rapper/singer joined Regis and co-host Kelly Ripa to discuss her #2 charting album 'Pink Friday,' and was summarily pawed by the show's 79-year-old host.

"I love the way you dress," Regis began, giving Minaj an admiring look. "This looks like you've got a little strap around you there," he added, fingering the hem of her frock, then patting her rear end with his hand. "Regis! What just happened?" a surprised Kelly Ripa asked.

Despite Minaj's best attempts to play it cool -- during what is being dubbed as 'Bootygate' -- Regis' inappropriate behavior did not stop there. In response to her statement that Young Money boss Lil Wayne advises her to "go hard," Regis joked, "Go hard? I wish I could."

After the show, a fan of Minaj's tweeted, "What went thru your mind when Regis had slapped ya? That was epic!" Safe, in the midst of her adoring audience of online Barbies, Nicki tweeted back "LOL. I was in shock!"

'Pink Friday' dropped on Tuesday, Nov. 23, selling 375,000 copies in its first week. Get More News About Nicki Minaj on PopEater

Regis played grab ass....and? She didn't care really, yea caught her off guard but come on she puts herself out there! Besides, it adds more publicity for this talentless broad AND SHE LIKES IT!! let's remember, every word, every question, every gesture is all practiced by the P.R before she goes out on live

the 'thigh slap' was a violation, but the 'go hard' line looked scripted.

so many negative we are the ones that took his remark to the gutter he was referring to the hard work at a rapid pace. ya'll took it the wrong way. And if she didn't wnat the (negative) attention she should not have worn the dress that made her Assets( Hips and Legs) look as huge as a house. He was unfortunately dating himself it wasnt harrassment. Can you say Persistant to the comment on the definition. I do think it is time for him to retire however.

I have not seen this artist before, not my type of music, but the first thing that you notice in that outfit is her butt. It looks like one of those fake butts that you can buy on infomercials only much larger. He was probably trying to see if it was real, not copping a feel. It was barely a graze.

Nobody seems to be concerned
with the fact that this music
is horrible. I used to love
Hip Hop but I can honestly
say it's over if people can really
fool themselves to believe that this
is worth listening to.
