"I saw her coming in the game like, 'All you chicks that's been in the game for 10 years, move over,'" Kim explained. "I thought that was disrespectful. Then she started saying stuff that was almost direct[ly] towards me... and you could tell. I said OK, I wasn't going to just dislike her because I feel like a lot of times females in the industry when they come into the game, they're misguided, a lot of times it's not them.
Kim went on to reveal that when the 'Pink Friday' creator hooked up with Lil Wayne and his Cash Money/Young Money family, she was not only around but contemplated signing with the label herself. "I went over there," Kim revealed. "People don't know this. I was over with Cash Money and them. Slim [labelhead of Cash Money Records] was putting me in the studio... I was in a couple of their sessions... So my thing is, I was getting ready to be allies and in their family. I didn't have a problem with that. My whole thing was as a business woman, this would be good for people to see me with her. It would be good for her, to see that I'm willing to come over and rock with you. I don't have no beef with you shorty at the end of the day. Beef is serious."
After collaborating on the track 'Everywhere We Go,' Kim claims that the lukewarm response to Minaj's performance upset the Cash Money crew. "They kind of used me to stamp it, because they knew that they were gonna kinda steal my swag. If you are going to steal my swag you gonna have to pay. Something gotta give. You help me, I help you. That's how it goes to me."
Kim also exposed the wig-wearing emcee for essentially playing both sides, by pretending to be friendly, all the while taking "subliminal shots" at her in song. The two have been going back and forth for much of the year, with the brunt of the shots being thrown by Kim.
Although Minaj has previously stated that her beef with female rappers does not deserve to be addressed by name, she released the track 'Roman's Revenge' as a clear attack on Lil Kim. As a retaliation, the Brooklyn rapper dropped the diss record 'Black Friday,' a play on Minaj's gold selling debut album 'Pink Friday.'
The recent attention has put Kim back in the spotlight, at least in the digital world. The 35-year-old placed sixth on Twitter's most trending celebrities list.
