50 Cent Launches New G-Note Record Label

50 Cent is busy making multiple movies, recording an album, managing investments, tweeting and running G-Unit from the top down, and now he's started yet another recording company -- this time a sub-venture of G-Unit entitled G-Note Records. G-Note will apparently focus on 50's favorite acts that don't fit neatly into a hip-hop categorization. Favoring pop and R&B, the label's first release is by Unit-affiliate Hot Rod.

"[Hot Rod] is the first artist of G NOTE," 50 tweeted over the weekend as the rapper's 'Dance With Me' single went on sale at iTunes. "He gonna do his numbers watch."

It's still unclear who will handle distribution for the subsidiary and how it exactly fits in with 50's other recording industry ventures. He broke out of a longtime deal with Interscope Records back in August and quickly signed a strong distribution deal with EMI for G-Unit releases. That partnership collaborated to get Lloyd Banks' recent 'H.M.F. 2' record distributed in late November and has a new Tony Yayo solo effort slated for early 2011.

Hot Rod has been affiliated with 50 Cent and G-Unit since 2006, yet his style has shifted dramatically in more of a club-pop direction recently.
