The rest of the 2-day Lollapalooza Chile lineup is so diverse, representing metal, reggae, indie rock and a lot of dance music, it seems Perry Farrell, the fest's founder and Jane's Addiction frontman, picked band names out of a hat. Farrell says he and his fellow promoters -- Lotus Producciones, WME and C3 Presents -- had four months to put the lineup together. The other bands they were able to reel in for the fest include the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Deftones, Fat Boy Slim, Cypress Hill, Sublime with Rome, the Flaming Lips, Ben Harper, Steel Pulse, Datarock, Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeros, CSS, Cold War Kids and more.
"We did not want to come to Chile with a lineup that was anything other than world-class ... Now that the lineup is announced here, we are going back to Chile to work on the other aspects of the festival." Farrell says that he hopes to have the festival flourish on Chilean soil in the years to come. Lollapalooza originally started in the '90s as a traveling alternative-rock festival in America. In 2005, it rooted itself as a 3-day event in the middle of Chicago, where it presides every first or second weekend of August. The Killers, Jane's Addiction and Kanye have all performed at Lollapalooza in the States.
Two-day passes to Lollapalooza Chile are available now at the presale price of $110, while VIP passes start at $320. To purchase tickets head here. The full Lollapalooza Chile lineup can be seen here.
