A South El Monte, Calif. man posing as a backup dancer was arrested Friday (Feb. 18), after stealing a laptop, a Louis Vuitton purse and various other valuables from the set of a Lil Wayne music video shoot.
According to police, Marco Negrete, 20, took a laptop, purse, a wallet and tickets to the NBA All-Star game, sometime between 9PM and midnight Thursday night (Feb. 17), from a trailer at Citrus College in Glendora, Calif. The trailer was located on the set of the music shoot for Lil Wayne and Cape Town, South Africa singer Porcelain Black.
Unfortunately for the thief, the laptop was equipped with a GPS tracking device, enabling police to track its signal to Negrete's home in South El Monte, where the items were recovered and Negrete was taken into police custody.
A spokeswoman for Citrus College revealed that Negrete had been a backup dancer on the shoot. He is currently being held in Glendora jail, in lieu of posting $20,000 bail, and scheduled for a February 22 arraignment.
