Shakur was initially arrested in Lumberton, North Carolina after state alcohol agents pinned her for possession of marijuana, simple possession of a controlled substance and maintaining a dwelling or place for a controlled substance. She was briefly imprisoned and later released on a $10,000 bond, with plans for her to return to Robeson County District Court for her sentencing on May 10.
But shortly after she was supposed to appear for her sentencing, the court date was pushed back until August 24. News of a second delay failed to surface, but she will now deal with the consequences this summer.
The 64-year-old, a Lumberton native, was a Black Panther activist during the 1970s. She has since become a businesswoman, establishing the Tupac Amaru Shakur Foundation in Georgia. She is currently overseeing her son's biopic and will serve as executive producer on the project.
