NBC's hit show '30 Rock' currently leads the nominees with seven nods, followed by 'Modern Family' and 'The Office,' each with four nominations. Jimmy Kimmel, David Letterman and Jimmy Fallon all face off against 'The Daily Show' and 'The Colbert Report' in one awards category. For film, 'Easy A,' 'Cyrus' and 'Kick-Ass' received four nominations each. During the awards show, comedian Eddie Murphy will also be presented with the network's first Comedy Icon Award, for all of his successful work in television, film and comedy.
This year's nominees were selected by the Comedy Awards board, which includes big comedy names like Chris Rock, Stephen Colbert, Whoopi Goldberg, and Conan O'Brien, among others.
The first annual Comedy Central Awards will be filmed at the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City on March 26, and will air on April 10, on Comedy Central and several other network affiliates.
The Roots are currently prepping for the 4th annual Roots Picnic, which will take place in Philadelphia on Saturday, June 4. Performers will include Wiz Khalifa, Yelawolf, Nas, Mac Miller and recent Best New Artist Grammy winner Esperanza Spalding.
