The 49-year-old was taken into custody after she was pulled over for speeding in Georgia, according to TMZ. Stone did not have a valid license to operate a vehicle at the time of her traffic violation.
Police booked Stone, known for her musings on love and heartbreak with such albums as 'Black Diamond' and 'Mahogany Soul,' on charges of speeding and driving with a suspended license. She was subsequently released an hour after being taken into a Georgia precinct.
No statement from Stone or her reps has been given regarding the arrest.
Angie Stone holds five albums to her name, most recently releasing 'Unexpected' in 2009. She is a three-time Grammy nominee for her work alongside Joe on 2003's 'More Than a Woman,' 2004's 'U-Haul' and 2008's 'Baby' featuring Betty Wright. Besides her music, the singer made an impact on TV when she appeared in the fourth season of the reality weight loss show 'Celebrity Fit Club' on VH1.
