Fantasia Barrino will step back on familiar territory when she returns to the 'American Idol' stage this week.

The 'Idol' alumnus and one-time Broadway star will hit the stage on FOX's hit competition show Thursday (March 31) to perform 'Collard Greens and Cornbread,' the latest single of her third album, 'Back to Me.' The night will also feature a performance from Jamie Foxx and will.i.am who will sing their song 'Hot Wings (I Wanna Party),' off the soundtrack for their upcoming animated film, 'Rio.'

After winning 'Idol' in 2004, Barrino has had her share of ups and down. Most recently, a cheating scandal between her former boyfriend Antwaun Cook and his wife Paula, thrusted the singer into a negative media spotlight. Overwhelmed, the Grammy winner attempted suicide just as she was to begin promoting her album.

"I didn't have any fight in me," she explained. "I didn't care about anything. I just wanted out. At that moment, I wanted out. I wanted it to be over with, all of it, all of that shit. I just sat in the closet and looked at the mirror and took all the pills in the bottle."

Barrino has since broken up with Cook and was cleared of wrongdoing by a judge after Cook's wife filed an "alienation of affection" lawsuit against the singer putting her at fault for the break-up of her marriage.

Since making it big, several American Idol graduates have returned to the stage including Adam Lambert, Kelly Clarkson, and Jennifer Hudson who performed her single, 'Where You At,' on last week's show. Catch Barrino on 'American Idol' Thursday, March 31, at 8PM EST on FOX.
