The all-star event will feature guest performances from Christina Aguilera, Anita Baker, Jill Scott, Jennifer Hudson and Corinne Bailey Rae. The concert is intended to celebrate MJB's Foundation for the Advancement of Women Now, which sent 25 young ladies to college last year with full four-year scholarships. Each participating student has maintained a required minimum 3.0 GPA since matriculating.
Proceeds from the concert will benefit FFAWN's scholarship fund. Last year, FFAWN held its first Benefit Dinner and Concert at New York's Cipriani restaurant, where guests and presenters including Blige, Queen Latifah, Taraji P. Henson, Jazmine Sullivan and more appeared to support the cause.
Established by Mary J. Blige and record executive Steve Stoute in 2007, the organization is intended to inspire young women to achieve higher goals. FFAWN intends to "use Mary's personal story and success to inspire women from all walks of life to reach their individual potential," and "help these women overcome the difficulties they face in their lives and to provide them with the drive and confidence to pursue -- and realize -- their goals and dreams."
