"This release consists of a 1997 investigation into allegations that extortionate death threats had been made against Shakur and another rap artist by a domestic terrorist group," reads the official report.
Though many of the key names have been omitted, the document reveals that the Jewish Defense League (JDL) have been accused of Mosque burning and the attempted assassination of a U.S. Congressman, along with acting as Eazy-E and Jerry Heller's security in negotiating Dr. Dre's exit from Ruthless Records with Suge Knight.
"On September 11, 1996 [omitted] reported that JDL, and others yet unidentified have been extorting money from various rap music stars via death threats," states the report. "The scheme involves [omitted] and other subjects making telephonic death threats to the rap star. Subjects then intercede by contacting the victim and offering protection for a 'fee.' Source reported that ERIC WRIGHT, also known as EAZY-E, who owned RUTHLESS RECORDS, Woodland Hills, California, was a victim of this extortion scheme prior to dying from AIDS. [Omitted] had also reportedly targeted TUPAC SHAKUR prior to his recent murder in Las Vegas, Nevada."
The FBI report further states that the JDL continued to make death threats to Eazy-E's wife and family until at least a year after he died in 1995, from complications related to the AIDS virus.
