YC, formerly Yung Chris, has not only created an anthemic track for those with a penchant for flaunting cash, he's put the masses onto a new word -- "racks" is the equivalent of $1,000. The rapper's debut single, featuring Future, made a big move on the charts this week as it grabbed a top 10 spot on Billboard's Mainstream R&B/Hip-Hop chart. The song also edged up two positions, grabbing the No. 12 slot on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart.
While the Universal Republic artist garners fans with lyrics like, "Gotta car lot in my garage, gotta condo down in Starks/ I'm geeked up off dem bars, gotta car I ain't even gotta park," he also has a video to show for the song, which originated down south but has spread rapidly to the East Coast.
In the visuals, a denim-dressed YC, joined by Future, showcases his wealth by stepping out in pricey rides and flossing glittering jewels. The R. Malcolm Jones-directed clip also provides a tutorial on just how to move when the hook of "racks on racks on racks" erupts.
Now, YC is on a national tour, performing 'Racks' in clubs across the U.S. The Decatur native will hit Rain Ultra Lounge in Orlando Thursday (April 21), the State Theatre in Albany Ga., on April 22 and 778 Ultra Lounge in Burlington, N.C. on April 23, just to name a few. His performing spree has dates booked well into June.
