At 1:42PM on Tuesday (May 3), middle school students across the nation gathered to mimic Beyonce's workout dance moves, as part of the First Lady's "Let's Move Flash Workout," a taped performance that would be broadcast nationally.
Students at Harlem's P.S. 161 middle school were in for a surprise when Beyonce showed up to dance alongside them during a performance for New York City School Chancellor Dennis M. Decked out in white skinny jeans and heels, a blond B happily hammed it up with the kids.
Meanwhile, at Alice Deal Middle School in Tenleytown, D.C., Michelle Obama did subdued versions of dances like The Running Man and The Dougie while students performed the choreography from Beyonce's new workout video in its entirety.
For the Let's Move! campaign, Beyonce recorded a Swizz Beatz-remixed version of her 'Get Me Bodied' hit, now titled 'Move Your Body.' The instructional dance video is broken down into several "missions" to make the learning process simple.
The Let's Move! campaign is in partnership with the National Middle School Association and the National Association of Broadcasters Education Foundation.
