In March, producers of the Tupac biopic began the search for the film's lead actor and now a screenplay penned by the late rapper has sealed a deal for production.

During an 11-month jail sentence in 1995, Tupac wrote and completed the screenplay 'Live 2 Tell,' which is now scheduled to begin production in 2012. The story follows a teenage drug dealer who is determined to find his way out of the game.

The film will be helmed by NStar Studios under the direction of Ivan Juzang and Preston Holmes, who collaborated with Tupac's mother Afeni Shakur to produce the documentary 'Tupac: Resurrection.' Variety reports that 'Live 2 Tell' has been afforded an $11 million budget, and will begin filming within the first few months of 2012.

Studio owner Ivan Juzang is confident that Tupac's unique perspective will make the film a hit. "This kid was a genius, and the net of it is, he was from this community, he knew the struggles these young people were dealing with," Juzang told Variety. "And he's able to talk to young people in 2011, 2012, the same way he was able to talk to young people in 1995."

The upcoming Tupac biopic will be directed by Antoine Fuqua, who brought forth 'Training Day,' with the rapper's mother Afeni Shakur serving as one of the executive producers.
