Producer-songwriter David Kirkwood has filed a lawsuit against Cash Money Records and Young Money Entertainment claiming he is owed $1.5 million in royalties and "production services" for his work on 'Tha Carter III,' including songwriting on 'Love Me or Hate Me,' a bonus song featured only on the deluxe edition of the album.
According to court documents, the suit was filed in New York Southern District Court on Friday (June 3), and a summons was issued to Cash Money the same day.
Though Wayne is not named in this suit -- he was linked to another separate suit back in April -- this is the fourth such action filed by an unpaid 'TC3' producer, following 'A Milli' beatsmith Bangladesh's multiple claims, 'Lollipop' hit-maker Jim Jonsin's similar legal battle in 2010, and Darius "Deezle" Harrison's recent $20 million attempt.
Wayne's highly-anticipated ninth studio album 'Tha Carter IV' is scheduled for an August 29 release. The album so far has spawned the tracks '6 Foot 7 Foot,' 'John' and the crooning-heavy 'How to Love.'
