Cash Money Records Scores Third Lawsuit in One Week

Cash Money Records hit for the trifecta last week, racking up their third lawsuit on Friday (June 10), when they were sued for an undisclosed sum by publishing company Bridgeport Music, over illegal usage of the song 'You and Your Folks, Me and My Folks' by Funkadelic.

The copyright suit, filed in the Central District of California Western Division, states that the folk rhyme ode from George Clinton and his band's 1971 classic 'Maggot Brain' was allegedly sampled by Lil Wayne and Bryan "Birdman" Williams' on 'Army Gunz,' a track from their 2006 collaboration album, 'Like Father, Like Son.' According to the court report, Cash Money Records, Wayne and Birdman, along with parent company UMG Recordings, Universal Music Distribution, Young Money Publishing and Warner Tamerlane Publishing have all been named in the suit, but not the song's producer, DJ Nasty.

Weezy's label was sued on Thursday (June 9) by producers Play-N Skillz, claiming more than $1 million in unpaid royalties for their T-Pain-featured track, 'Got Money,' which Wayne released on 'Tha Carter III,' the fifth such lawsuit from 'TC3' producers chasing pay. Cash Money was also named in a $1.5 million suit by producer-songwriter David Kirkwood on June 3, for unpaid royalties from 'TC3' bonus track 'Love Me or Hate Me.'

While Birdman, also known as Baby, gets his act together, Wayne is still hard at work on his highly anticipated album, 'Tha Carter IV,' which is scheduled for an Aug. 29 release.

Is there a lawsuit fo being just plane U-G-L-Y? Is there a lawsuit for needing plastic surgery? What good is a lawsuit when dude scares the air around him. Dude looks like he should be swimming in a fish tank. Then again, my fish look better than dude. He must have paid that girl to go to the game with him. She must be in a reality show or something. Gotta be dumb, slut like and broke. Who gets involved with these people. There is only so much cough syrup and pot a person can get for free. After a while, people get found out. The syrup dries up and the flapper goes to jail again and again and again. Dude still has Arizona to deal with(gun charge). AZ does play with their laws. Back in prison again. Now this is just a great Human Being. Now dude is stealing tracks and songs without asking the people who made the music and owns the rights to the music. Music has rules you have to follow or you get sued. That is why people have lawyers to do things like keep them from being sued. There is a lot of music, note, bars, riffs stolen from artist. That drive to have a top hit or a big sound will drive people to do all kinds of things. Just don't get caught.
