Nicki Minaj Attacked by Man at Dallas Hotel

Nicki Minaj was attacked by a man in a Dallas, Texas hotel room last night (July 11).

TMZ reports that the Young Money rapper was relaxing by the pool at boutique Hotel Palomar last night, when she got into a heated argument with an unidentified man with whom she was staying.

When the dispute got out of hand, Nicki asked a hotel employee to call the authorities and the man stormed off, but it appears Nicki followed him back to the room, where the fight continued, and she was struck in the mouth.

The man, who Nicki claims she was not in a relationship with, left the scene of the altercation before police and paramedics arrived at the luxury hotel, reportedly finding the 'Super Bass' rapper with an injury to her lower lip.

Thankfully, Nicki does not appear to have been seriously wounded, and while police filled out an incident report, at her insistence, no charges were filed.

Neither Nicki, nor her reps have commented regarding the incident.

How sad. She was obviously assaulted by insisted that no charges be filed. To loosely quote fellow artists the Black Eyed Peas, "he'll do it again, he'll do it, he'll do it, do it, do it again..." I thought Minaj was a strong woman, but she is just setting the stage for her young fans to accept abuse themselves. Any woman hit by a man isn't inherently weak, but letting abuse "slide" shows weakness and gives the man power and an inherent license to continues being abusive. It is not as though Minaj was in a dangerous, unprotected environment. Some women need to time thier escape from abuse...but she was surrounded by police officers in a hotel. If ever there was a time to get away, that was it. I am sad that her psyche is in such as place that she is either allowing her abuser to continue, or allowing a "one-time" event by an acquaintance to go unpunished. Woman up, Nicki!

It is called self control. It is not good to hit any one even when you think you are being provoked by that person. For that I pray that person is sorry. There is life and death in the power of the tongue. I pray she feels better not just physically but mentally. She is strong, but she is still a woman.
