Reid previously served as chairman of Island Def Jam, and has been responsible for cultivating the careers of artists like Kanye West, OutKast, Rihanna, Justin Bieber, Jennifer Lopez, Mariah Carey, Ciara and many more, while running Arista and LaFace Records.

According to Reid, his attempt to rebuild Epic Records will not affect his role as judge on Simon Cowell's new music competition show 'The X Factor.'
