Andre 3000 Not Playing Jimi Hendrix, Biopic Blocked

OutKast member Andre 3000 will not be playing rock legend Jimi Hendrix in an independent movie biopic as was previously reported and anxiously anticipated by his fans. The Experience Hendrix estate, in charge of all Hendrix material and images, have squashed the hopes of a biopic going forward, along with the our fantasy of this perfect casting.

Experience Hendrix and their CEO, Hendrix's sister Janie, have "made it known many times in the past that no such film, were it to include original music or copyrights created by Jimi Hendrix, can be undertaken without its full participation." A musician's biopic without music? That is decidedly unfoxy, lady!

The estate does, however, confirm that a documentary film is currently in the works, stating, "With Sony Legacy, our partner, we are active in releasing documentary material starring, so to speak, Jimi Hendrix as himself and plan to continue on this path."

Reportedly, the role was also offered to Jason Derulo but he turned it down, not that it matters now.

The Hendrix family keep putting out these re-releases of old jimi material remixed and it's getting old!!! They've blocked movie's in the past by denying use of his most popular material, you can't do a movie and just throw in Hey Joe!!! I know they want to protect Jimi's legacy, but its a fact that any movie about his life IS going to contain certain references to his drug taking which according to many biographies written by many of his close friends and associates is true. However, I think a movie could minimize that and focus on his magnificent artistry to include his many drawings. Fed up of his greedy distant half sister trying to monopolize him!!!!

Get Morris Chestnut to play Jimi Hendrix, I think he would be a great fit to the role.

They already did a movie about Jimi Hendrix and besides, the only thing from that era worth ANYTHING is live footage. Stop perverting peoples life and legacy with b.s. movies about how you imagine they lived.
