The Sunday Mirror reported that the child, Dannika Augustine and her grandmother both confirmed that the 'Rehab' performer was about to begin the adoption process. Augustine's parents had reportedly signed off on the papers to move things along.
However, a Winehouse rep tells TMZ that the information regarding Augustine's adoption is false. "It's not true," the unnamed representative said. "I think [Amy] might have met her in St. Lucia, but she was in no way about to adopt her."
In the Sunday Mirror story, the young girl expressed a fondness for the troubled songstress, who passed away at the age of 27. "Amy was already my mother," Augustine revealed. "I would call her mum and she would call me her daughter. She took care of me and we had fun together. I loved her and she loved me.She was the most amazing person and I was looking forward to living with her here or in London. I cannot believe she is gone. This is the worst thing that ever happened to me."
Amy Winehouse is said to have met the girl while vacationing on the Caribbean island in 2009.
As for her cause of death, an autopsy won't be readily available until October. Her father, Mitch Winehouse, claims she died as a result of alcohol withdrawal.
