Having recently hosted the mtvU Woodie Awards and taped an upcoming Comedy Central special 'WEIRDO,' Glover's comedy career is continuing to build momentum, however it is his rapping ability that has been the topic of conversation of late.
Glover performed as part of both the Bonnaroo Music Festival and Rock the Bells tour earlier this year, and during the Los Angeles, Calif. stop of the later tour, on Aug. 20, he revealed that he had signed to Glassnote, home to popular indie rock acts Phoenix and Mumford & Sons, and will be releasing 'Camp' on Nov. 1.
"The biggest compliment I can give the album right now is it's worthy of being on Glassnote," Glover recently told Rolling Stone. "I love Glassnote's stuff, and he [Daniel Glass] was like, 'We can do anything with this album if the album's good.'"
As for his fellow Glassnote artists, Glover revealed that he has already started shouting out his new team. "I definitely reference them in this one song," he said of British folk rock band Mumford & Sons. "We all know each other, it's kind of cool. It's like a family ... I don't know if I'm allowed to talk about it right now, but I've started collaborating with a bunch of artists."
Though he's released a handful of downloadable albums and mixtapes, 'Camp' will be sold on all formats, including vinyl, and will have a bigger sound, to match his venerable new label home. "I'm like, 'This is for the stage,'" he concluded. "I want people, when I play that first chord, to be like, 'Oh my god, I know this song.'"
Childish Gambino's Glassnote debut, 'Camp,' will be in stores on Nov. 1.
