Drama's even surprised with the popularity of the track. "I knew I had something with
the record but I didn't know how big it was gonna get," the Philly native tells The BoomBox. "So, you know, it's definitely something new for
me."
In fact, the success of his entire career has been unprecedented. Currently on his third official compilation album, Drama reflects, stating that he never thought he'd arrive at this level of eminence.
"When I first started DJing my goal really, was to get my name on a flier," he admits. "And that was just my mentality, that was my accomplishment. When I was in high school, I would go up the block after school, and all the DJs would have their names on flyers and I was just like, 'I gotta get my name on a flier! If I do that I'm good!' Sometimes... I like to say, 'Everything else is just extra.'"
DJ Drama's 'Third Power' will be released on Oct. 11 under E1Music, Aphilliates Records and
Powerhouse Productions.
